The acrylic artwork features a woman and a horse. The woman is standing to the right side of the painting, dressed in a vibrant pink shirt with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. She has dark, wavy hair, pale skin, and prominent facial features. She looks with a piercing gaze. Her attire suggests a casual but stylized fashion.

In contrast, the horse occupies the left side of the canvas, portrayed with a rich chestnut brown coat. The reins and bridle indicate that the horse is well-cared for and possibly ready for a ride. There is a notable interaction between the woman and the horse; she holds onto the bridle delicately, showing a bond between the two.

The background includes an out-of-focus trail of greenery and pink flowers, creating an impression of an outdoor setting with a soft, pleasant atmosphere. The painting itself is rich in color and character, using texture and detail to bring the figures to life. Gloss finished.

‘Pageantry’ Painting by Christian Baloga

I’ve just completed a new artwork titled ‘Pageantry’. You can now purchase it through Peggy or SaatchiArt.

The artwork is a vividly colored painting presenting a regal scene. The focal point is a figure, Brian Kenny, Mr. Baloga’s muse and fiancĂŠ, seated on an ornate throne with a high back that branches out into stylized, lightning-like forms at the top. The character on the throne wears a theatrical outfit reminiscent of Michael Jackson or a historical royal attire, with yellow and white stripes and bold red pants. Above the figure, a golden arch showcases luxurious decoration, including a crown symbol at the apex, flourishes, and a coat of arms or emblem featuring a ‘BK’ logo beneath the crown.

On either side of the archway, there are banners with the letters ‘BK’ and ornamental patterns. To the left of the throne, a red banner bears the name “Brian Kenny,” while the corresponding position on the right displays the letters ‘BK.’ The throne itself is adorned with golden embellishments, intricate designs, and striking red upholstery. Steps leading up to the throne have a checkerboard pattern, implying a grand entrance. The setting extends a sensation of opulence, grandeur, and perhaps a touch of satire, drawing upon elements of royalty and pageantry.

It’s made from acrylic, pen and ink, and gold liquid leaf paint.

My First Signature Collection of Apparel Has Gone Public on VIDA

Christian Baloga for VIDA & Co.I was honored to receive contact from VIDA & Co., a Google Ventures backed startup that works with a selective group of artists from around the world to join their renowned fashion design community. VIDA is where craftspeople and manufacturers connect to transform artwork into luxury fashion and apparel products for those with impeccable style and a mindfulness of responsibly produced products.

I present this collection to you on VIDA with such excitement as it represents my lifelong passion and dedication to fashion, art, and bringing real-world benefits to people struggling to rise above the cycle of poverty. According to TNW, “In an interview, CEO Umaimah Mendhro emphasized how this goes beyond monetary compensation; scarf-makers in Karachi, Pakistan, for instance, earn literacy classes for every 15 scarves produced. You’re even able to see how many workers will receive classes based on your purchases.”

To inspire you, I’ll be mixing and matching items from my collection on Polyvore, where you can also discover your own style, create your own outfit, and shop.

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to you by offering 10% off your next order by using the code VIDAWELCOME. The first ten customers who buy my pieces each receive a 25 USD VIDA gift card. Additionally, for every VIDA product sold, VIDA offers literacy programs for their factory employees. Thank you for your continued support. Shop now!

Junk to Jewelry

 [6.12.16 UPDATE]:

I’ve handpicked some of these items to be available for sale on Etsy. Click HERE to head over to the store.

Armed with nothing but my cargo pocket swim trunks, I get down on my knees and scour the beach for shells and broken glass. When I’m closer to home, I pry the outskirts of cemeteries or the guts of abandoned buildings in search of discarded materials. When I’m home, I explore the forests surrounding my house for feathers, skeletal remains, and unoccupied wasp nests.

The idea of upcycling trash into something useable and beautiful is very appealing to me. Besides the excitement of finding bizarre objects, this practice is relaxing,  helps the environment, and allows me to convert findings into future art projects.

As you’ll see in the gallery below, Continue reading “Junk to Jewelry”
